Solitude
Wandering on a path of dirt, with my camera in my hand is good for my soul. Inspired by the relationship between the natural elements, the shorelines, the forests, and mountains, even the architecture people have crafted over the years. I am drawn to the serenity, the ever-changing colours, and patterns of nature. I capture moments of silence and stillness, that will never look the same on another day. It might be a foggy morning, where I glimpse the treetops peeking out of the fog before they once again disappear. Capturing the silky water as it meanders along a creek, which may be dry again with the change of seasons. I create with purpose, having planned, and thought about the places I go, along with the moments I want to capture, but being open to the unplanned and unexpected opportunities each location presents. Whilst I think about the time of day or season and the equipment I need, once I am capturing images in nature, I am chasing the wonder that every scene can provide – if one only looks for it. Where I allow my subconscious mind to become the leader and inspire my vision, adding to the soulfulness of unique moments. Photography fills me with a sense of accomplishment, translating my inner vision to a medium to be shared and enjoyed. I love the timeless simplicity of black and white, I believe removing the distraction of colour allows the attention and consideration to be focused on the subjects. Inspired by the work of Michael Kenna and Ansel Adams, I want my images to speak to you, to draw you in for a closer look or perhaps reawaken a memory or feeling that has long been dormant. When I pack up at the end of the day, all I leave behind is footprints. I am a photographer, a traveller and a gatherer of moments and memories
